The Moving On Well Award is an evidence-based quality mark for Year 6 to Year 7 transition for Secondary schools. This Award gives your school the opportunity to demonstrate your transition practice, and receive helpful tips on making improvements at a Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
Created in collaboration with Universities, VCSE organisations and young people themselves to develop this award, it centres on the experiences of pupils through transition and the structures which enable them to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. The award provides practical guidance on how to reach your goal as a school and develop independent learners through Year 7 and beyond.
Put the right team in place and position yourself to impact your whole school with the Moving On Well Award
Demonstrating your school receives and disseminates the information needed for effective transition
Demonstrating your school provides a hospitable environement where children and young people thrive socially and emotionally
Demonstrating your school maximises opportunities for teaching and learning throughout transition
Demonstrating your school develops independent learning skills in your pupils right from the start

Our motivation to create these awards comes from the many stories like Harry’s that we hear in our local community.
There were many things which both his Secondary and Primary school did to improve his outcomes, but overall his vulnerabilities and circumstances fell through the gap.

Complete the short online form to sign up for the award. Once your invoice has been paid you will receive access to our members area and be linked with a Moving On Well Advisor.
As a member you start the award by RAG rating your current transition practice and establishing the award working group within school.

Your Moving On Well Advisor will visit you in school to review your progress on the action plan and your evidence for Bronze, Silver or Gold Award level. This visit enables the award to be time efficient without large numbers of documents to gather or upload.
Our independent panel of expert partners meets once a full term to review our advisors recommendations and confirm your award level. You can then advertise your success with the Moving On Well Award at Bronze, Silver
or Gold level to all your stakeholders and partners.
Your Moving On Well Award status lasts for three years at which point you need to renew. In the interim you are welcome to request another site visit from your Moving On Well Advisor to apply for the Award at Silver or Gold level.

The Moving On Well Award demonstrates to all stakeholders: parents, pupils, Governors, staff and the wider community that your school cares about the big move to High School.
